Our team
JOnathan Hennessey-BrowN
(CO-DIRECTOR/OWNer)
Jonny is the founding director of Hennessey Brown Music. As a freelance ‘cellist he played in all major venues and arenas in the U.K. and with many fine artists from Renee Flemming to Meatloaf and Eric Clapton to Sir George Solti. He played in recording sessions for tv and film and for 14 years as a regular deputy at Lion King.
He founded Santiago Quartet which was featured across the BBC and reached number 3 in the Classical Charts. Jonny’s passion for Latin American music was born in Mexico where he was the head of the orchestra committee and became fluent in Spanish.
Jonny sees it as a privilege to represent the artists on the roster at HBM and to be part of a dedicated team. HBM artists are recording, conducting, performing and having their compositions performed all over the world. They also serve their own communities through local concerts, education work and outreach.
Jonny’s vision for HBM is that its artists perform and compose to the highest standard with a collaborative spirit and a freedom from elitism filled with an inclusive outlook. That inclusivity should and does include artists of very varying ages (23-81 currently) background, social status, sexual orientation, clour, creed and nationality.
Musical excellence and professionalism from artists and the HBM team is expected and encouraged at every juncture.
Jonny is a passionate advocate for awareness about and understanding of those who live with mental health issues, neurodiversity or are in recovery from addiction. He feels the time for any shame about such things has long passed.
He has raised thousands of pounds for charities that support such people through concerts and album sales and will continue to help this cause by encouraging promoters and artists to support mental health charities. Empathy, kindness, tolerance of differing viewpoints and the highest professional musical standards are at the epicentre of Hennessey Brown Music.
